Long-Awaited Child by Kellie Harriden
Kellie Harriden, is an author, speaker and infertility advocate. She has turned her own heartache and experiences from her own infertility journey, into her passion to help others who may be experiencing similar struggles of their own.
Kellie will tell you at the time of embarking on the journey of a lifetime she was an ordinary 31 year old wanting to start a family with her partner, Ian. She did not know the hurdles she was going to have to overcome to beat the odds, which seemed stacked against her, but determined to not let anything stop her get to her dream ending. Eventually, after eight long years, all their hard work and persistence paid off and resulted in them having their long-awaited twins.
It was not an easy journey for them; they learnt a lot along the way and experienced some sadness and loss! During the days, months and years it took to have a family, Kellie knew she had plenty of support around her, however instead often felt very alone and ashamed. No one in her family or circle of friends had experienced what she was going through, and she often felt confused as to why her body was not doing what it was naturally meant to.
Kellie now aspires to make the journey easier on others, give them hope, share her research and help them navigate through their options outside what is often considered the norm of fertility treatments. Kellie understands the negative results and financial stress can be heartbreaking and soul destroying, which is why she felt compelled to share her story and write her book, Long-Awaited Child. She hopes by reading her story it will inspire others to not give up on their dreams to have a family and to possibly look into other options should they need to.
What is next for Kellie? After the release of her book, Long-Awaited Child, Kellie has also added a large range of fertility gifts to her shop, Pineapple Tribe, which can be found on her website. 2021 will hopefully see the return of her expos and events. At these expos you will find a large range of businesses from the fertility field all in one nurturing space. Next year will also see Kellie publish her 2nd follow up book, which will be another resource for those feeling lost in the world of infertility.
