Kate Gale – Thanks for the Mammaries
Kate Gale has walked a road that not many women her age should have to. Kate was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer at the young age of twenty-seven. At the time she was working as a hairdresser, being a wife to Bob but her most important role was as Mum to daughters Bree and Gemma who were aged three and one. After a mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation and immunotherapy she won her battle. Life went back to some sort of normality, until five years later Bob was diagnosed with renal cancer. Kate’s life was again thrown into chaos and this made her revaluate her life and which direction it was going in.
Kate is rare in the fact that she has seen both sides of a cancer diagnosis both as a patient and a carer. She realised there was barrier that surrounded cancer and how people approached the subject. Kate also went on a journey of finding herself, making changes in the way she lived, her career and knew she had to share her story to help others. Kate found writing cathartic and her way of dealing with all the curve balls and lessons that had been thrown in her direction and this is how ‘Thanks for the Mammaries’ was born.
Kate now helps others by sharing her journey through her books as well as being a regular on the speaking circuit. She is a person that looks at life differently and will leave you asking yourself if you are living your life to the fullest.
